Things to do in Playa Den Bossa, Ibiza

It used to be the case that if you were planning a clubbing holiday to Ibiza you’d immediately be heading for the party capital San Antonio on Ibiza’s west coast. However as the club scene in Ibiza continues to grow and the Ibiza council work hard to bring increased numbers of family holiday makers to the island we’re seeing other resorts like Playa Den Bossa become more and more popular year on year.

Playa Den Bossa is located on the eastern coast of Ibiza. It’s about a 10 minute drive south of the capital Evissa or ‘Ibiza Town’ as it’s more commonly known. It’s also the closest resort town to Ibiza’s only airport – Evissa International.

Beaches in Playa Den Bossa

Rather than beaches plural, Playa Den Bossa is really just one big long beach. In fact Playa Den Bossa beach is Ibiza’s longest stretch of sand. Due to it’s size this beach is really different things to different people. It’s also the main hub for activities around Playa Den Bossa.

The Ibiza club crowd tend to hang out around the centre of the beach with the world famous Bora Bora beach bar being a focal point for daily parties where trance and techno blares out of the extremely loud sound system and the masses gather to sip on vodka limon bottles, dance and generally pose about! Families and couples looking for a quieter time during your stay in Playa Den Bossa may want to avoid this part of the beach.

For everyone else the rest of the beach is equally attractive and a great deal quieter. Most family holiday makers with kids tend to stay around the southern end of the beach, near to the hotels and restaurants. Here you swim safely, build sandcastles or take part in the numerous water sports available in Playa Den Bossa including windsurfing, jet ski hire and water skiing.

Activities for kids in Playa Den Bossa

Playa Den Bossa is one of the most popular resorts in Ibiza with families so there’s plenty to keep kids entertained here.

The water park is a great day out for kids (and adults too). There’s plenty of slides and pools designed for younger children while also having some of the larger rides which are more likely to keep older brothers and sisters entertained as well. The water park is within walking distance of most Playa Den Bossa hotels.

Playa Den Bossa also has Ibiza’s best free kids park with climbing frames, slides and jungle gym type stuff. It’s located on the beachfront, near the main throng of hotels and is a public amenity so families can take their kids for free.

Playa Den Bossa has some of the best family friendly hotels Ibiza has to offer and many of these operate daily ‘kids clubs’. Meaning you can drop the kids off in the morning and spend the day sightseeing or relaxing by the pool while your kids are entertained with games, arts and crafts and other fun stuff! Choosing a hotel in Ibiza with a decent swimming pool for the kids is also a really good idea and you’ll find plenty of places in Playa Den Bossa which can provide this.

Nightlife in Playa Den Bossa

As an increasingly busy resort which is really starting to take off with the club crowd who are sick of the hussle and low quality hotels on offer in San Antonio, Playa Den Bossa’s nightlife is going from strength to strength with new bars opening each year. There’s plenty of places similar in style to the party bars you’ll find in San Antonio’s West End district where you can get strong, cheap cocktails and free shooters which are perfect for getting your night started. You can happily drink and dance in Playa Den Bossa bars until about 2am after which time most people have moved onto a club.

There’s just the 1 super club based in Playa Den Bossa but it also happens to be the recipient of many ‘worlds best club’ awards. Space club in Playa Den Bossa is something of an institution amoung the Ibiza faithful. The clubs most notorious night happens on a Sunday when the doors open mid afternoon and stay open until 6am the next day in a marathon of techno and electronic music which attracts a huge bill of world class DJ’s playing at various stage throughout the night either in the main room or on terrace. If you only do one night out in Ibiza, you’ll probably want to make it Space.
